Duff Roblin Political Studies Fellowship

in Canadian and Manitoba Government and Politics


The fellowship was established in 1998 in appreciation of the contribution of the Honourable Duff Roblin, former premier of Manitoba (1958-1967), to the province and people of Manitoba. The fellowship is offered annually for the amount of $15,000.00 (Canadian) and is not tenable with any other scholarship.

Eligibility

  • Full-time graduate students applying to or enrolled in the Master of Arts program in Political Studies at the University of Manitoba with a primary research focus on Canadian government and politics. E.g.: federalism, parliament, provincial issues, political parties, interest groups, public administration and policy studies, comparative politics with a focus on Canada, Canada on the international stage, Indigenous governance and/or resurgence, etc.,
  • Entering either the first or second year of graduate study,
  • Minimum grade point average of 3.5 based on the last 60 hours (or equivalent) of study.

Applications


Applications must include:

  • a formal cover letter for the award,
  • a research proposal (max 2 pages),
  • two academic letters of reference, and
  • all official undergraduate and/or graduate transcript(s). University of Manitoba students may request a history. Applicants to the M.A. program in Political Studies do not need to submit a transcript.

The successful candidate(s) will be announced and notified in writing in July. The decision of the Selection Committee is final and not open to appeal.
